Is life like a highway?

Life is like a highway. (This statement is hardly profound or original, but do hear me out!)
1.Stretches of incident free smooth riding.
2. Slow going with lots of people during the peak hours.
3. Surprisingly narrow and desolate stretches when a person travels alone and becomes one with nature.

Let me elaborate the third point.
As it has been said, he who travels fast travels the fastest. However, I'd like to add that a fast traveler might also miss the sights. Not to mention the sounds and colors and everything else which makes up life. So whats the solution to this?
I suspect that he who travels the fastest without the sights is he who doesn't move an inch physically. Theres no need for a traffic jam in an imaginary world; mindscape replaces landscape.
Of course, it is always debatable as to which of of the above 'scapes' is more 'real'.
For a mind shaped by the real world, how different can the mindscape be from reality?

What about a person's influence on the world ? Let me give an analogy. Your car on the highway takes up a spot and a lane, indirectly affecting the responses of all other drivers. Similarly, your actions in life momentarily affect the lives of those around you, and the effects last longer than the person does.

O Sorrento!

O Sorrento!
How you glisteneth green in the golden spring sun,
Calm and serene, not a soul around, nay, no one.
How is it that Ive not seen you before?
Reality or my mind's image, dreams galore.
I know not,
but why then the Deja vu,
when I see you.
Your memory from long ago....
O Sorrento, O sorrento.
